The Rural Health West Annual Conference Breaking down the barriers in the bush – mental healthcare for our rural communities provided an opportunity for rural medical and health practitioners to hear from mental health leaders and advocates about the latest services and treatments, share their personal insights, and enhance their skills and abilities to successfully care for patients with mental health issues.

Keynote speaker Dr Ahmed Kazmi opened the conference with a thought-provoking and entertaining presentation with tips for staying well as a GP. Former tennis champion Jelena Dokic shared her inspiring story of dealing with heavy depression and the physical and emotional abuse she received from her father. Olympic Gold Medallist Steven Bradbury delivered the closing address to a packed room, his motivating and entertaining presentation was a tale of triumph over adversity and never giving up!

In addition to the engaging keynotes, delegates were also able to attend clinical updates as well as case studies, small group discussions and workshops.
